LUCKNOW, Sept. 27 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) will next week float global tender for production of bio-CNG from cow dung at Kanha Upvan here. Speaking on the issue, Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia said: "LMC will be the first municipal corporation to float global tender for production of bio-CNG from the cow dung produced by about 9,500 stray cows, bulls and calves in Kanha Upvan. The upvan has a capacity of producing 50,000 kg of biogas per day."

Bhatia further said: "If this project is successful then other municipal corporations may follow suit." LMC chief engineer SFA Zaidi expressed confidence and said: "It (project) would be a win-win situation for LMC and the company which will win the bid as both of would benefit."
