LUCKNOW, Nov. 21 -- Intensifying its crackdown on property tax defaulters, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) on Thursday sealed three major establishments in Zone 4. The drive was launched on the directives of municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar after several institutions repeatedly ignored tax notices, officials said. According to an official release, the civic team sealed the administrative block of a private engineering institute over unpaid dues of more than Rs.51 lakh. Officials said the action was taken after the institute failed to respond to repeated notices. The office of a private commercial establishment in the Khargapur area under Saraswan ward was also sealed for ignoring multiple notices regarding property tax dues of over Rs.5 lakh, officials said. Another commercial complex in the same ward was sealed for outstanding dues of more than Rs.4 lakh, they added. LMC officials said the crackdown would continue in the coming days. Zone 4 officer Shilpa Kumari said the corporation was prioritising revenue recovery to support key development works across the city.
