LMC seals Sahara Shahar, takes over 130 acres
India, Dec. 31 -- Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) sealed Sahara Shahar in Gomti Nagar and took possession of 130 acres of land, including late Sahara Group founder Subrata Roy's bungalow and his wife Swapna Roy's 'Swapna Kuti' residence, in October. The civic body had alleged misuse of the land, which was allotted to the Group in 1994-95 under a licence deed for residential and commercial development. LMC claimed that the Group diverted large portions of the once-luxurious 170-acre complex for private use instead of developing public or commercial facilities as mandated under the allotment terms. Following the sealing drive, Lucknow Development Authority conducted a detailed land survey in November to verify land use patterns, demarcation and compliance with planning norms.
