LMC seals nine liquor, beer shops for running without licence
LUCKNOW, Nov. 3 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) on Sunday launched a major crackdown on liquor, beer shops and bars operating without trade licence, sealing nine of them in Zone 4 (Gomti Nagar) area of the state capital.
All zonal teams have been instructed to take immediate action against establishments that fail to obtain or renew their licences.
On Sunday, the Zone 4 team sealed outlets in Kamta, Cyber Heights, Ahimamau Bazaar and Palassio Mall.
The sealed premises included model shops near Viram Khand-1 Husadiya crossing, at Kamta in Vikrant Khand and Jalwa Bar in Cyber Heights, two liquor shops inside Palassio Mall, IMFL liquor and beer shop in Ahimamau Bazaar, and a model shop in Malhaur, stated in an LMC press release on Sunday. Officials said some establishments cleared their pending licence fees on Sunday evening after which the LMC permitted them to reopen their shops. "The action aims to ensure all commercial activities operate within legal and hygienic standards," said municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar.
"Trade licences are not just a formality-they ensure accountability, safety, and revenue compliance. Businesses must renew their licences on time or face similar action," he added.
The enforcement drive was led by zonal officer Sanjay Yadav and assisted by tax superintendent Anurag Upadhyay and others.
The operation was carried out with police support to prevent any disturbance.
LMC officials confirmed that the crackdown will continue across other zones to identify and seal establishments operating without licences. htc...
