LMC pins hope on upcoming facilities to alleviate parking crunch
Lucknow, Nov. 22 -- As Aminabad, the state capital's busiest commercial market, continues to grapple with severe parking woes, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is banking on three upcoming parking facilities expected to accommodate over 1,000 two-wheelers.
The area sees a daily footfall of over 5,000 bikes against roughly 1,200 commercial outlets, including small shops and vendors. With limited parking space, most bikes end up parked along the roadside, worsening congestion.
Lucknow municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar on Friday directed officials to fast-track work on all three parking projects while inspecting the market.
Kumar began his inspection at the Clock Tower parking site, where construction under the Infrastructure Fund has been moving slowly. He instructed engineers to complete the remaining interlocking and concrete work without delay, improve the Clock Tower platform, and install clear signage to help commuters identify parking zones and movement routes.
Kumar then visited recently vacated Aminabad parking lot, and later reviewed the underground parking facility in Rani Laxmibai Ward and ordered improvements in the approach pathway for smoother vehicle flow.
The inspection concluded at a public toilet near the Lal Khambe shop, where he directed repairs to damaged doors, installation of a water cooler, and uninterrupted water supply. Additional municipal commissioner Lalit Kumar accompanied him during the inspection....
