LMC frees two encroached water bodies ahead of monsoon
LUCKNOW, May 27 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation removed encroachments around Haibat Mau lake in Mawaiya and Birura pond near Vrindavan Yojana on Monday. The unauthorised structures here had been stalling beautification and water conservation efforts for weeks, raising concerns ahead of the monsoon.
On Monday, municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar conducted a surprise inspection of both the sites and ordered immediate removal of unauthorised structures.
Following his directions, the tehsildar and Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) teams reached the sites and carried out a swift encroachment removal drive. Kumar also instructed officials to begin boundary wall construction without delay to protect the restored water bodies from future encroachments.
"These projects are vital not just for beautifying the area but also for preventing waterlogging during the monsoon," said the commissioner. "Their timely completion is non-negotiable."
In the second leg of his inspection, the municipal commissioner visited ongoing road works under the CM Grid Scheme in Zone 8, including IGNOU Road and Rajni Khand Road.
He directed engineers to accelerate the pace of construction and ensure that proper drainage systems are laid out in advance of the rainy season.
"Effective drainage and quality road work will save the public from seasonal hardships," he said, emphasizing that poor construction or delay will not be tolerated....
