LUCKNOW, May 2 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) fined a private sanitation agency Rs25,000 after its workers were found violating safety norms during a surprise inspection in Alam Nagar ward on Thursday morning. The inspection followed multiple complaints from residents. LMC zonal officer (Zone-6) Manoj Yadav, along with the sanitation field inspector and other officials, conducted the inspection at 8:30am. They found workers without basic protective gear like gloves and masks-violating LMC's safety guidelines, the corporation said in a press release. Officials also noted that no agency supervisor was present at the site, raising concerns over worker safety. Taking serious note of the lapses, the LMC warned of stricter action for repeat violations. "We will not tolerate carelessness in sanitation work.
