LMC clears encroachments in Alambagh market
LUCKNOW, May 29 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) carried out an anti-encroachment operation in Chandan Nagar Market of Alambagh on Wednesday, removing over 70 illegal structures that had narrowed public roads and blocked key drainage lines.
The drive, conducted on the directives of the high court, was supervised by municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar and led on-ground by LMC Zone-5 zonal officer Nandkishore.
The affected stretch between Chandan Nagar Gate and Chandan Nagar Police Post had been reduced from 18 feet to a narrower passage due to unauthorised stalls, tin sheds, and platforms, most of which had been in place for nearly a decade, LMC said in a press release.
"Encroachments had turned the area into a bottleneck. The road was being used as private space by shopkeepers, leaving little room for pedestrians or vehicles," zonal officer Nandkishore said.
When asked about the delayed action against decade-old encroachments, he did not offer a clear response....
