Lko taxi driver found murdered in Sitapur; body dumped in field
LUCKNOW, Oct. 4 -- Yogesh Kumar Pal, a 29-year-old taxi driver who had left from Lucknow's Para area for a booking, was found murdered in Sitapur district on the night of September 30.
His body, with hands tied behind his back and face taped, was found in a field of Sariyapur-Fukha village under Pisawan police station limits, said Para station house officer (SHO) Suresh Singh on Friday.
Police reached the spot after locals reported spotting the body. SHO Suresh Singh said Yogesh's face and neck bore deep injury marks.
Singh added that the taxi and Yogesh's mobile phone have not yet been recovered.
A police inspector posted with the Kanpur crime branch allegedly assaulted a health department employee with a wiper in Gomti Nagar Extension on Thursday night. Based on the victim's complaint, an FIR was registered against the accused on Friday, police said.
According to Gomtinagar Extension SHO Sudhir Awasthi, the victim, Ravindra Shukla, a resident of Khargapur's Gangotri Vihar, was returning home when another car driven by inspector Anil Kumar Singh hit his vehicle from behind. Shukla chased the vehicle, which stopped outside the accused's residence. An argument broke out between the two, during which Singh brought a wiper from his house and allegedly struck Shukla on the head, leaving him injured.
Police on Friday arrested the main shooter involved in the murder of a businessman in Aligarh, even as the search continues for Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) office-bearer Puja Shakun Pandey, who is accused of hiring the killers, police said. Her husband Ashok Pandey, the ABHM spokesperson, is already behind bars, they added.
Superintendent of police (city) Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said that both shooters hired for the killing of Abhishek Gupta, a 25-year-old two-wheeler showroom owner, had now been arrested. Gupta was gunned down on September 26 while boarding a bus to Hathras.
Police said the main shooter, Asif, was taken into custody on Friday near the Delhi-Kanpur highway at Shah Kutubpur. Asif carried a reward of Rs.25,000 and was wanted under sections 103(1)/61(2)/ 351(3) of the BNS and Section 3/25/27 of the Arms Act, Pathak said.
