Lucknow, Oct. 30 -- In a major administrative overhaul, the Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (MVVNL) is set to introduce its new "vertical system" for electricity distribution and complaint redressal from November 1. The initiative aims to make power services faster, more transparent, and consumer-friendly. Ahead of the rollout, Jankipuram chief engineer (Distribution) VP Singh carried out detailed inspections of help desks established at G.P.R.A. and G.S.I. His Amausi counterpart Rajat Juneja inspected all help desks within his jurisdiction and directed employees to maintain a proactive and consumer-first approach once the new system becomes operational. Under the new setup, MVVNL will deploy 56 dedicated service vans across Lucknow to attend to consumer complaints in real-time. Each van will be linked to the central control system for tracking and monitoring, enabling quick response to faults, outages, and maintenance issues. However, the initiative has triggered mixed reactions among staff. Some have expressed apprehension that over-dependence on mobile vans, instead of the existing substation-based fault management system, could lead to slower resolution times during peak load or severe weather conditions. Officials clarified that the process for new electricity connections will remain unchanged, with applications continuing to be accepted through 'Jhatpat' and 'Nivesh Mitra' portals.HTC...
