Lucknow, Jan. 30 -- Recognising the growing influence of digital platforms in policing and public communication, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate on Wednesday organised a day-long training to equip its personnel with skills in social media management and press note writing. The participants included social media cell staff from all zones, along with one nominated police personnel from each police station responsible for preparing press notes and coordinating with the media. The workshop, held at the Specialised Training School in Daliganj, was attended by over 60 police personnel. "The workshop sought to address these gaps by introducing uniform practices for drafting press notes and managing content across platforms such as X, Facebook and Instagram," said assistant commissioner of police (women crime and security/cyber crime) Soumya Pandey. Participants were trained in drafting press notes using the inverted pyramid format, placing key information at the top and avoiding complex legal terminology. Emphasis was laid on clarity, brevity and factual accuracy to ensure that updates are easily understood by the public and media alike. Another key component of the training focused on video communication. Police personnel were briefed on recording professional video bytes, with attention to framing, audio clarity, background discipline and the use of high-quality visuals. Sessions also covered visual story-telling techniques, including the use of photographs and infographics to make information more engaging and accessible. htc...
