LUCKNOW, June 24 -- A woman's alleged attempt to set herself on fire outside Tango Gate No 3 under Gautam Palli police station of the state capital was prevented by a special anti-self-immolation squad on Sunday morning, police said. According to a statement issued by the Lucknow Police, and released to media persons, the incident occurred around 11 am when the woman, accompanied by her elder brother and teenage niece, poured a flammable liquid on herself allegedly in protest over an ongoing investigation. Alert personnel at the site intervened in time, rescuing her and escorting her to the police station for questioning. Initial inquiries revealed that the protest was linked to a case registered at Hazara police station in Pilibhit district. According to the police, the woman had filed a complaint on May 14, earlier this year. She was pressing for the matter to be transferred to the crime branch-criminal investigation department (CB-CID), saying that she did not have confidence in the local investigation....
