Lko admin warns schools against fee hikes beyond approved structure
LUCKNOW, April 10 -- The Lucknow district administration on Thursday activated the District Fee Regulatory Committee to ensure strict enforcement of the UP Self-Financed Schools (Fee Regulation) Act, 2018 and its 2020 amendment.
At a meeting chaired by district magistrate Vishakh G, schools were directed to display complete fee details on their websites and notice boards and barred from charging any amount beyond the approved structure.
The administration also made it clear that capitation fee is completely prohibited and students cannot be forced to buy books, uniforms, shoes or stationery from any specific shop.
Officials warned that violations could attract a fine of up to Rs.5 lakh and even cancellation of recognition or NOC.
The DM appointed ADM (civil supplies) Jyoti Gautam and the district inspector of schools as nodal officers to handle complaints from parents regarding fee hikes and other irregularities. He also directed magistrates and education officials to conduct joint inspections of schools and submit reports within a fixed timeline.
The administration further said school uniforms cannot be changed for five academic years, while fee hikes for existing students must remain within the CPI-linked limit plus 5%. Schools following the NCERT curriculum have been told to use only NCERT textbooks....
