Lko: Murder accused with Rs.1.5L bounty killed in encounter
LUCKNOW, Oct. 13 -- A criminal carrying a Rs.1.5 lakh reward succumbed to injuries after a late-night encounter with Para police and the Crime Branch teams of deputy commissioner of police (DCP) West and Lucknow police commissionerate on Sunday, police officials said.
The accused, identified as Gurusevak, was involved in multiple heinous crimes, including murder, loot, and attempt to murder, according to the police.
A resident of Patayi, Powayan, Shahjahanpur district, he was wanted for the killing of Yogesh Paul, resident of Budheshwar, Lucknow, and looting his vehicle a few days ago, the police added.
Gurusevak was also accused in a case in Powayan, where he, along with his associate, killed a man Avneesh Dixit and looted his four-wheeler.
After a tip-off that Gurusevak was planning to sell the stolen vehicle, joint teams of Para police and the Crime Branch set up checkpoints near Zero Point on Mohan Road and Outer Ring Road.
When the suspect's vehicle appeared, officers tried to intercept it, but the driver sped away along the Agra Expressway service lane.
After a chase of about one kilometre, the vehicle got stuck while attempting to reverse on spotting the second police team, according to the police. Two men emerged from the vehicle and opened fire on the police, officials said.
In retaliation, officers returned fire, injuring Gurusevak, while his associate escaped. He died later, the police confirmed.
Police recovered a .38 bore revolver, a pistol, live cartridges, and used shells from the spot, along with the looted four-wheeler linked to the Shahjahanpur murder case.
Officials confirmed that Gurusevak faced several serious charges, including murder, kidnapping, loot, and violations under the Arms Act....
