Literature, dastangoi, qawwali mark 8th day
LUCKNOW, Sept. 28 -- A session titled 'File Ke Kaagaz Se Sahitya Ki Kalam Tak' showcased the journey of senior administrative officers from bureaucracy to literature on the eighth day of the 9-day Gomti Book Festival on Saturday. Principal secretary (vocational education and skill development) Hari Om, former commissioner (Jhansi Range) Ajay Shankar Pandey, and former director of Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan Sudhakar Adeeb shared their experiences.Hari Om spoke about balancing his administrative duties with writing in Hindi and English, and captivated the audience by rendering two of his songs.In another session, 'Rivers: Restoration and Resilience', experts discussed the revival of Lucknow's rivers, focusing on efforts to restore the Kukrail and highlighting the need to rejuvenate eight others, including the Behta. They also shared tips on assessing river health and insights from the Namami Gange Mission, along with references to Deepika Chaturvedi's book 'Along the Banks of River Gomti'.

At the Children's Corner, over 800 students from various schools of Lucknow participated in the morning sessions which began with storytelling followed by 'Fun with Vedic Maths' by Vivek Kumar, where children learned easy calculation techniques. Later, children explored creative dance using ribbons and balloons with Farman and Muskan,
In a quiz contest by UP Tourism, winners received books as prizes. In the evening 'Dastangoi' session, Himanshu Bajpai and Pragya Sharma narrated the tale of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, the queen of Indore during the Maratha Empire, who established Maheshwar as the seat of the Holkar dynasty. The highlight of the night was the performance by the legendary qawwali ensemble Nizami Bandhu....
