Lift gets stuck in new OPD building of KGMU, triggers panic
LUCKNOW, Aug. 8 -- A lift in the new OPD building of King George's Medical University (KGMU) got stuck on the second floor reportedly due to a technical snag following a power outage on Thursday morning, trapping six people, including a toddler. The incident occurred at around 10:45am and caused panic due to rising heat and lack of ventilation inside the lift.
Unconfirmed reports said the lift remained stuck in the four-storey building for nearly half an hour. A purported video of the incident also went viral on social media. However, the KGMU media cell incharge claimed that the issue was resolved within a minute and those trapped were rescued.
People tried calling the helpline number inscribed inside the lift, but it didn't work because it was a nine-digit number instead of 10. They also called the toll-free helpline number, but the calls went unanswered.
Authorities were informed about the incident and a team was sent to rescue the people trapped inside the lift, officials said.
According to Dr KK Singh, the media cell incharge of KGMU, the lift developed a technical snag following a one-minute power outage. "As soon as we got the information, we reached the spot along with engineers and other employees, and the issue was fixed within a minute. All those trapped were safely rescued, and the lift is operational now."...
