LUCKNOW, June 29 -- In an infrastructural upgrade, the respiratory medicine department at King George's Medical University (KGMU) will soon install a lift at the operation theatre (OT) complex and a ramp at the back side of the out patient department (OPD), authorities said on Saturday. The move comes as a relief for patients who currently have to be carried to the first-floor ward and OPD due to the absence of a lift and ramp. The KGMU administration has approved the proposals and identified the ramp's location. Both projects are expected to be completed within the next three to four months. "The lift will allow patients to access the first-floor ward without needing to be carried, significantly reducing discomfort and the risk of injury," said KK Singh, media cell in-charge at KGMU. Singh said that the ramp and lift would be particularly beneficial for patients with respiratory ailments. The cost of the lift is estimated at Rs.30 lakh. The installation is expected to be completed within the next few months....
