Lifestyle gaps driving rise in pregnancy complications, say Experts
Lucknow, April 10 -- Unbalanced lifestyles, poor nutrition and low awareness are fuelling a rise in pregnancy-related complications, doctors said on Thursday. Stress, changing diets and missed check-ups are pushing many pregnancies into high-risk territory, threatening both mother and child.
At a press meet, Dr Preeti Kumar, president of the Lucknow Obstetrics and Gynecological Society, said the 'Art of Birthing Conclave 2026' will be held from April 10 to 12, with national and international experts participating. Many women, she noted, lack timely guidance on nutrition and care, leading to anaemia, hypertension and other issues that surface acutely during childbirth.
Dr Sujata Dev of Queen Mary's Hospital, KGMU, stressed that regular antenatal check-ups and expert supervision can significantly reduce risks. Ensuring trained staff and promoting institutional deliveries are critical, she added.
