Life has come full circle: Shaan on Kishore Kumar tribute concert
India, Sept. 19 -- Shaan will take the stage in Mumbai today - but fans hoping to hear his popular chartbusters are in for a surprise. Instead of performing his own hits, the singer will be paying tribute to his musical idol, the legendary Kishore Kumar.
Reflecting on what it means to sing Kumar's timeless classics on stage, Shaan says, "Life is coming full circle for me. Even before I thought of becoming a singer, he gave me the idea that music is such a beautiful thing. The voice that made its place in my heart for the first time was Kishore da's."
The 52-year-old adds that he has been deeply involved in the show. "I used to listen to his songs on the radio. Today, I have a chance to present the same songs on the stage; I'm very nervous. I haven't rehearsed like this for any of my shows," he admits.
The singer also expressed concern over how today's generation may be missing out on the richness of retro Bollywood music. "Many kids are not even aware that such songs or voices existed. If we can bring back these songs for a newer generation, it's a service for what is going to happen," he says....
