Leopard scare in Prayagraj village
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 11 -- Fear of a leopard attack is keeping residents of Dhanaicha village in Phulpur tehsil, 20 km from the city, awake at night after the animal was spotted roaming on Saturday morning. Forest officials and local police cordoned off a millet field where the leopard was last seen, using drone surveillance and nets to try and trap it. But the crowd of onlookers spooked the wildcat, which fled to an adjacent field and injured a villager, Rajinder Bind, 35, with its claws before escaping.
According to DFO Prayagraj Arvind Yadav, a thermal imaging drone scanned the area on Saturday night but found no sign of the leopard. "Our team of experts from Kanpur have arrived and are still combing the area. It is a wildcat and may have left the area under the cover of darkness as they do not prefer crowded or inhabited places," he said.htc...
