Jhansi, June 13 -- A leopard trapped inside a narrow water discharge outlet of a pond in Lalitpur district was rescued by the forest department on Thursday morning. Unfortunately, the animal was found with paralysed hind limbs and is currently undergoing treatment. The incident was reported from Bhauti village, under the Madawra forest range of Lalitpur. Locals spotted the wild cat stuck in the narrow outlet on Wednesday evening and alerted forest officials. A forest department team rushed to the site and, after night-long efforts, managed to safely rescue the animal early on Thursday. Officials said the leopard appeared weak and unable to move its hind legs, likely due to injury or nerve damage sustained while trapped. Chief conservator of forests, Bundelkhand Region, SV Girish, confirmed that a veterinary expert from Kanpur Zoo had been called in to assist with treatment. "The leopard is receiving medical care, and we plan to shift it to Etawah Lion Safari for further specialised treatment," he said. Forest officials are monitoring the leopard's condition closely.
