The land had been leased out for residential, commercial and green belt purposes, but the licensee corporate group violated the terms of agreement and attempted to declare the government land as its own property, stated an LMC press release. After complaints regarding irregularities in land use surfaced, a probe revealed that the corporate group in possession of the land had breached both the licence agreement and lease deed conditions. On the basis of the probe report, civic authorities ordered reclaiming of the said land. The Lucknow Municipal Corporation also cancelled the licence agreement for 130 acres earmarked for residential and commercial purposes. It also revoked the lease deed of 40 acres earlier allotted for green belt development. Subsequently, the property department team of Lucknow Municipal Corporation, along with tehsildar and adequate police force, took back possession of the land on Saturday. "This is an important step to protect government assets and ensure that public property is not misused for private gain," said an LMC official....
