LUCKNOW, Nov. 7 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is awaiting the green light from the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) to begin its detailed survey of the seized Sahara Shahar land in Gomti Nagar to assess pending land dues and verify the property's land-use compliance, LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar confirmed on Thursday. The move marks a key development following the LMC's sealing of the sprawling property in October this year. Senior LDA officials said the survey will help determine how much land was developed as per the original lease conditions and whether there were dues or misuse occurred over the years. "The survey will include detailed measurement of the entire land parcel," said the LDA vice-chairman. Officials said the LDA team had attempted to begin a preliminary assessment at the site earlier this week, but was stopped by guards stationed under the LMC, who sought written permission for entry. The authority will now seek formal approval from the LMC before carrying out the full survey. In October, the LMC had seized 130 acres of Sahara Shahar, including the bungalow of Sahara Group founder the late Subrata Roy and the residence of his wife, Swapna Roy, known as Swapna Kuti. The LMC's action followed long-standing concerns over alleged misuse of the land, which was originally allotted in 1994-95 under a licence deed for residential and commercial development. Sahara Shahar covers around 170 acres, including 40 acres of green belt. Officials said the group allegedly used the land for private purposes rather than public or commercial projects. Although the land belongs to the LMC, officials said the state government directed the LDA to conduct the survey to assess both land dues and land-use violations. The authority will measure the entire parcel, verify its lease records, and identify the extent of non-compliance. Officials added that once permissions are secured, the LDA will begin the survey to determine financial and planning discrepancies before recommending further action to the government....
