LDA seals illegal construction at Charbagh hotel
Lucknow, May 21 -- Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday sealed the upper floor of Mohan Hotel in Charbagh on Tuesday due to its unauthorised construction. This came days after 30 people were evacuated after a fire erupted in the building on May 17. The hotel owner had built a four-storied building despite having approval for only three floors.
The LDA had already issued an order on May 16 to demolish the unauthorised construction.
The hotel management has been given a 15-day ultimatum to demolish the illegal structure; failure to comply will result in LDA taking further action. Also, LDA's enforcement team on Tuesday sealed three commercial complexes in Thakurganj, Sarojini Nagar, and Para areas for being constructed without approved maps.
On May 17, timely intervention by firefighters, police and locals averted a tragedy at Mohan Hotel.
According to police, the fire broke out in the hotel's basement kitchen due to a leak from an LPG cylinder around 12:30 am. Within no time, flames spread to the ground floor and the smoke engulfed all the floors leaving guests trapped in their rooms. htc...
