LDA removes illegal dairies, encroachments
LUCKNOW, Nov. 18 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on Monday carried out an anti-encroachment drive in Gomti Nagar Extension area and removed more than a dozen illegal dairies, huts, roadside shops and temporary structures from Sector-1.
According to LDA officials, several people had illegally occupied vacant land near the Gwari flyover and set up unauthorised dairies, shanties, a car workshop and scrap shops along the road. These activities routinely caused waterlogging and spread garbage in the locality, and caused inconvenience to commuters.
With assistance from the LDA's own force, the team demolished the structures and cleared the roadside. Officials said some families living in makeshift huts requested additional time to vacate. The authority granted them a week to remove their possessions and clear the encroached space.
LDA officials added that the authority will launch another drive next week if the remaining encroachments are not removed voluntarily.
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) on Monday launched an intensive anti-encroachment campaign in two key zones to clear major roads and public spaces. The teams targeted areas where illegal structures were obstructing traffic. LMC teams carried out a major drive from Airport Nadarganj intersection to Patri Daroga Kheda, including the Sarojini Nagar Industrial Area.
