LDA razes six illegal car workshops, seals two unauthorised buildings
LUCKNOW, Feb. 12 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on Wednesday demolished six illegally operating car workshops in residential areas of Gomti Nagar Extension and sealed two unauthorised commercial constructions in Chowk and Raja Bazar areas.
Acting on the directions of LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar, enforcement teams from zone-1 carried out the demolition drive in Sectors 1, 4 and 6 of Gomti Nagar Extension. The workshops were running from residential plots in violation of land-use norms and had led to repeated complaints from locals.
LDA zonal officer Devansh Trivedi said the illegal garages caused significant inconvenience to locals. Vehicle washing at these units led to waterlogging on roads, while random parking of vehicles disrupted traffic movement and narrowed internal colony roads. "We initiated legal proceedings against these units, sealed them earlier, and moved the competent court. After the court passed demolition orders, we executed the action," he said.The authority used bulldozers to remove the unauthorised structures. In a separate action, the enforcement zone-7 team sealed two illegal commercial constructions being raised without approved building maps. Zonal officer Madhavesh Kumar said one building was under construction near Gol Darwaza in Chowk on a 50-square-metre plot. Another multi-storey structure was coming up on a 70-square-metre plot in Raja Bazar, Wazirganj.Both constructions violated building regulations because the owners had not obtained mandatory map approval from the LDA. Officials said the authority will continue its crackdown on illegal commercial activities in residential zones and unauthorised constructions across the city....
