LUCKNOW, Sept. 12 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has given its permission to allocation of 14 acres of land to Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) for the construction of a crucial metro depot in Vasant Kunj's Sector-A, paving the way for the much-anticipated Phase 2 of the Lucknow Metro project. While the UPMRC had initially requested for 17-acre, a mutual agreement between the LDA and the UPMRC has settled on 14-acre of land. The UPMRC officials say that the upcoming Vasant Kunj Metro Depot is planned as a cutting-edge facility like the Transport Nagar Depot. The new depot will not only ensure seamless train operations for the new corridor but also elevate the standards of maintenance, monitoring, and sustainability in urban transit infrastructure. It will also serve as the central maintenance, monitoring and operations hub for the second corridor of Lucknow Metro.
