LUCKNOW, Dec. 2 -- : For hundreds of LDA allottees struggling for years to secure home loans, Monday brought long-awaited relief as 476 applicants received on-spot loan approval at the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) special loan fair. A notable example came from Basantkunj, where allottee Mahendra Kumar Sharma had been visiting banks for three years. On Monday, he reached the fair at 11 am, submitted his papers at the UCO Bank counter and had his loan approved within 90 minutes. "I gave documents everywhere but never got approval. Here it happened instantly," he said. The fair, held at LDA headquarters in Gomti Nagar, saw heavy footfall as allottees queued to clear payments through bank loans. Officials issued on-spot NOCs to enable smooth processing. LDA finance controller Deepak Singh said delays and lack of information often prevented timely payments. Acting on instructions from vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar, LDA organised the fair to address these challenges. A total of 24 banks participated, offering counselling, document checks and on-spot approvals. Some applicants lacking documents were asked to visit their respective branches.
