LDA issues tender for Rs 315-cr flyover between La Martiniere, G-20 Road
LUCKNOW, Nov. 8 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has issued a tender for the construction of a 2.3-kilometre-long four-lane flyover connecting La Martiniere College and the G-20 Road, as per an official note on Friday.
The Rs 315-crore project, a part of the city's Green Corridor plan, aims to decongest central Lucknow and improve direct connectivity between Hazratganj and Shaheed Path.
The new flyover will begin near La Martiniere College, pass through the army land, and cross the Pipraghat railway line before connecting to the G-20 Road. Once completed, it will provide direct access from 1090 intersections and key city roads such as Kalidas Marg and Vikramaditya Marg to Shaheed Path, Ekana Stadium, Police Headquarters, the airport, and Ayodhya Road.
Earlier in August, HT reported about LDA coming up with a new plan to provide relief to daily commuters battling traffic jams on Shaheed Path. The authority has now prepared a detailed project report (DPR) for a 900-metre flyover, along with loops and ramps, providing a direct link from Pipraghat to Kisan Path.
LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar said the project marks a crucial step in expanding the city's Green Corridor network. "We have already completed major works under phase one, including widening of the embankment and road construction from IIM Road to Pakka Pul. In phase two, the work from Pakka Pul to Samata Mulak crossing is nearing completion. The new flyover from La Martiniere to G-20 Road is the next major component," he said.
The flyover, designed as a flyover-cum-rail overbridge, will help reduce travel time between the central and southern parts of the city. The LDA has set a target of two years for the project's completion.
Under the same project, the authority will also construct a 250-metre-long bridge over the Gomti River at an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore. The bridge will link the embankment road passing through the Army area on the river's right bank to the G-20 Road. According to officials, this addition will play a vital role in ensuring smooth connectivity across the river and completing the Green Corridor alignment....
