LUCKNOW, May 20 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has issued a demolition notice to Mohan Hotel in Charbagh after officials found multiple deviations from the original sanctioned map. The action comes after a recent fire at the hotel prompted an on-site inspection. LDA officials said the hotel, approved in 1935, now includes unauthorized constructions, including an unapproved fifth floor. LDA zonal incharge Vipin shivhare confirmed that a previous notice was issued and then on Monday again a notice was issued for the Fifth floor of the building. Though the fire caused no casualties, it raised concerns about the building's safety. "The structure is both unauthorized and unsafe," an LDA official said. Located near Charbagh railway station, Mohan Hotel is one of Lucknow's oldest commercial buildings and has been on LDA's radar for long.
