VARANASI, May 8 -- The under-construction terminal building of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport is set to showcase the Kashi's cultural legacy. According to airport officials, the terminal's design has been crafted to reflect the spiritual and architectural heritage of the ancient city. Construction is progressing steadily, with over 60% of the foundation work already completed. Spread across 75,000 square metres, the three-storey terminal will feature an arrival hall on the ground floor, a departure hall on the first floor, and office space on the third, the airport officials informed on Wednesday. The building will be equipped with modern facilities including eight aero bridges, 72 check-in counters, eight conveyor belts, and 14 security counters. Visual elements of Kashi's identity-such as depictions of Ganga Ghats, temples, and Sarnath-will adorn the terminal. Vedic mantras will be inscribed on the walls, offering an immersive cultural experience to travellers. LBSI airport director Puneet Gupta on Tuesday reviewed the progress during a meeting with the project team and directed the agency to maintain construction quality in line with the approved design.
