Law and order maintained in Uttarkashi, Govt tells HC
Dehradun, Dec. 17 -- The state government on Monday reiterated in the Uttarakhand high court that law and order has been maintained in Uttarkashi even as the local administration continues to probe into the legality of the mosque, which has been termed illegal by the Hindu right-wing organisations. The court was hearing the petition filed by members of the Muslim community against the actions of the Hindu right wing organisations over the Jama Masjid in Uttarkashi. The counsels of the petitioners argued that "rampant hate speeches are being made against the Muslim community and Uttarkashi DM and SP failed to take action against makers of hate speech". Kartikeya Hari Gupta, one of the counsels of the petitioners, said, "We informed the court that rampant hate speeches are being made against the Muslim community. We have also filed a contempt application against the Uttarkashi DM and SP for failure to take action against makers of hate speech."...
