Meerut, May 25 -- In a chilling incident that shocked Rampura Mafi village in Bareilly's Bhojipura area, a 53-year-old labourer with a criminal record was stabbed to death by a former accomplice and two associates on Saturday morning. The victim, Babu Khan, a daily wage labourer and resident of the village, was working at a nearby under-construction house around 10:15 am when Ehsaan Mohammad, implicated in criminal cases-also from the same village and a former friend-approached him and started a conversation. Ehsaan then allegedly lured Babu Khan to his house under false pretences, where two of his accomplices, Kamran and Shahroz, were already present. According to cops, an argument broke out between the men at Ehsaan's house, which quickly escalated into violence. The trio allegedly attacked Babu Khan with meat-cutting knives, stabbing him multiple times in the neck, wrist and abdomen. The fatal attack left his neck almost severed and deep wounds across his body. The accused then dragged the body roughly 50 metres from the house and dumped it before fleeing the scene. At around 12 noon, villagers discovered the blood-soaked body and immediately informed the police. Law enforcement officials, including SP (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra and the circle officer of the Highway area, rushed to the spot with a heavy police force to prevent any potential flare-up in local tensions. A forensic team was deployed to collect evidence. "He was stabbed in five places. His throat was more than halfway cut. Only bone remained in his wrist." Babu Khan's nephew, Shafiq told police. SP North Mishra confirmed that the motive for the murder is still unclear....
