Labourer beaten to death in Banthra
LUCKNOW, Aug. 21 -- A 25-year-old labourer was beaten to death by a group of youths following a dispute in the Banthra area on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The victim, identified as Pradeep, a resident of Sarai Shahzadi in Banthra, had gone to Kati Bagiya on Kanpur Road around 2 PM to get a puncture repaired when an altercation broke out with some local youths. "During the dispute, they abused him and then attacked him with sticks, rods, and fists, leaving him critically injured," the police said.
According to the complaint filed by Pradeep's wife, Sushila, her husband somehow managed to return home after regaining consciousness and informed her about the attack before collapsing again. The family rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around 9 PM.
"The police were informed, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and four accused have been arrested," said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) Vasanth Kumar.
The FIR names Ankit, Amit, Ravi, and Manish, all residents of Kati Bagiya, as accused, along with other unidentified individuals. The exact cause of the dispute is still under investigation....
