VARANASI, Dec. 3 -- Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, taking a veiled dig at Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin for not attending the inaugural ceremony of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0, said on Tuesday that despite being invited, he chose not to come. Pradhan added that some political interests in Tamil Nadu are trying to create barriers on the basis of language, but "there is no barrier between the languages." He was addressing a gathering after jointly inaugurating KTS 4.0 with CM Yogi Adityanath at Namo Ghat, in the presence of around 216 delegates from Tamil Nadu. "Kashi Tamil Sangamam has become a public movement," Pradhan said. "Not only in Tamil Nadu, but even outside, people eagerly wait for the new edition. India's diversity and linguistic traditions are its greatest strengths. Linguistic unity and pride lie at the heart of KTS. He added, "Centuries ago, people from North India, including Kashi, visited Rameshwaram, and people from South India visited Kashi. There is no barrier of language. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Tamil is the primary language of human civilisation. Vested interests create barriers, not civilisation itself." A group of 216 delegates from Tamil Nadu, including 50 Tamil literature experts, 54 cultural scholars, students, teachers, artisans, classical singers, acharyas, and students of spiritual texts, arrived in Kashi by a special train to participate in the event....
