Knp brother duo held for Rs.50 crore embezzlement
LUCKNOW, Aug. 13 -- Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the state police has apprehended two brothers in connection with the embezzlement of more than Rs.50 crore from investors through various schemes operated by Infocare Infra/Infocare Agro India Ltd/ICC/Infocare Agriculture Multistate Cooperative Society Ltd in Kanpur, EOW said on Tuesday.
In a note to media, it said Ravi and Manish Dewal, the sons of Ramshankar Dewal who live in Kanpur Nagar, were booked in a case registered against in Lakhimpur Kheri district in 2018 under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC. They said the investigation was later transferred to EOW on July 5, 2021, as per the state government orders.
Police on Tuesday arrested the man who supplied an illegal firearm that was used to murder a 20-year-old hotel worker here two weeks ago, they said.
Key accused Akash Tiwari shot dead Diwakar Yadav at a hotel in Vikalp Khand on July 27, police said. The weapon was provided to him by his friend Satyaprakash, who was apprehended from Chinhat on Tuesday. Akash and his friend Pushpa Gautam were previously arrested. Satyaprakash, who hails from Nawabganj in Gonda, had been absconding since the incident.
A UP Police constable was arrested in Basti on Monday night for murdering his wife just 10 days after their marriage following a three years' live-in relationship as he suspected her fidelity, confirmed senior cops on Tuesday.
