LUCKNOW, Jan. 17 -- Amid the unstable security situation in Iran, families of Lucknowites who are in the West Asian country have expressed concerns as most of them have not been able to contact their near and dear ones for the past many days. Shahkar Zaidi, who resides in Tahseenganj area of state capital, is concerned as he has not been able to contact his younger brother Ravish Zaidi who has been living in Iran for some time now. "For the last one week we have not been able to contact Ravish as the internet and phone lines and all means of communications have been blocked there. However, I am confident that nothing will happen to our brother," said Zaidi said. Another Lucknow resident Mohd Shadab from Hussainabad area had gone to Qom (a city in Iran) for a pilgrimage. Now, his family members are praying for his safety. His brother Mohd Aftab said, "We managed to speak to him around four days back after repeated attempts. The internet is not working there, so no video calls for now. We are praying for his return." Meanwhile, spokesperson for Shia Personal Law Board Maulana Yasoob Abbas said though the situation was tense in Iran, pilgrims and people residing there were unfazed. "A few days back, a group from Lucknow went to Iran for pilgrimage. There were some communication issues, but there was nothing to worry about.
