kidnapped girl found dead in central kashmir
Srinagar, Aug. 18 -- A 14-year-old girl was found murdered hours after she was kidnapped from near her home in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Sunday, police said, adding they have constituted a special investigation team (SIT) after lodging a case under section 103 (murder) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita(BNS).
Officers said that the body of the girl, a Class 7 student who was stabbed, was recovered in the morning from Sehpora Batpora in Ganderbal. The recovery triggered protests in the area with local residents seeking death penalty for the killers.
Senior superintendent of police, Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal said that the girl was kidnapped from near her home in Sehpora when she was with her sister.
"The girl disappeared after the kidnapping and now her body has been found. We have recovered some clues. We have registered a murder case...and constituted a SIT..." Poswal said.
The victim's sister "has a fairly good idea" of the sequence of events but she and the rest of the family are still in trauma, he said, adding that they were planning to get her statement.
J&K CM Omar Abdullah expressed deep anguish over the tragic killing of a minor girl in Ganderbal and said that the perpetrators deserve the severest punishment....
