Khichdi feast a symbol of tradition, faith: KGMU VC
LUCKNOW, Jan. 20 -- A khichdi feast was organised at the Saraswati Temple premises on the King George's Medical University (KGMU) campus on Monday. On the occasion, KGMU VC Prof Soniya Nityanand said the festival is regarded as a traditional, religious, and socially significant ritual in Indian society, especially in North India.
She said that the ceremony is not just a meal, but a symbol of tradition, faith, simplicity, and social unity, and is believed to mark the beginning of auspicious activities with positive energy. Lucknow mayor Sushma Kharkarwal sent a message to the vice-chancellor, congratulating her on the event. Around 700 people, including teachers, staff, and other dignitaries from KGMU, participated in the event.
