Rudrapur, Dec. 15 -- The prime accused in the murder case of a 23-year-old man in Khatima of Udham Singh Nagar, was arrested after a police encounter at a brick kiln in the early hours of Sunday, officers familiar with the matter said, adding that the accused sustained a bullet injury to his right leg during the alleged exchange of fire and was subsequently hospitalised. According to police, the accused Hashim had been on a run since Friday night after stabbing 23-year-old Tushar Bhardwaj to death near the Khatima roadways station. Acting on a tip-off, multiple police teams were formed to trace the accused. One such team received information late Saturday night that Hashim was hiding at a brick kiln located in the Jhankat area, about nine kilometres from Khatima. "Based on specific inputs, a police team raided the brick kiln around 1 am on Sunday and asked the accused to surrender. However, instead of complying, he opened fire at the police party in an attempt to flee. The police retaliated, and Hashim was hit in the right leg," said US Nagar SSP Manikant Mishra....
