Kharif season sees record fertiliser sales surge in UP
LUCKNOW, Aug. 13 -- Uttar Pradesh has recorded a notable jump in fertiliser sales this Kharif season, with the state government claiming a timely and adequate supply to farmers, a spokesman said here on Tuesday.
Official data shows that 39.40 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of fertilisers were sold till August 11, 2025, compared to 33.42 LMT in the same period last year, an increase of nearly 6 LMT. Urea sales rose from 24.53 LMT last year to 28.98 LMT this year, while DAP, NPK, MOP and SSP also posted higher sales.
The Yogi Adityanath government has maintained sufficient stock across the state, ensuring availability at the prescribed maximum retail price (MRP). The spokesman said the government has denied opposition allegations of scarcity or overpricing.
"Strict monitoring is in place to curb black marketing and hoarding, ensuring that every farmer gets fertilisers without exploitation," the spokesman said....
