LUCKNOW, Nov. 7 -- Finance minister Suresh Khanna, who is also minister in charge of state capital, chaired a review meeting of top ranking civic officials at the Lucknow SmartCity Office on Thursday. The aim of the meeting was to accelerate Lucknow's urban development and ensure transparency in civic operations Mayor Sushma Kharakwal, municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar, all additional municipal commissioners, zonal officers, engineers, and other senior officials were present in the meeting. Khanna directed officials to ensure that all city development and civic works are executed in a time-bound, transparent and efficient manner. He stressed cleanliness management, night sweeping, tax collection and safeguarding corporation land. The minister assessed the condition and utilisation of municipal vehicles and asked for better maintenance. He instructed officials to form a 'Swachhata Protsahan Samiti' (cleanliness promotion committee) at the earliest to enhance citizen participation in cleanliness drives. A heated argument broke out between mayor Sushma Kharakwal and Bakshi Ka Talab MLA Yogesh Shukla during a review meeting on Thursday over road and development-related issues in Shukla's constituency.
