PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 5 -- Cybercriminals allegedly cheated a resident of Nagar Panchayat Daranagar-Kada Dham, Kaushambi, of nearly Rs 61 lakh in the name of online trading, police said on Saturday. The victim, Ram Datt Tripathi, reportedly fell ill after realising the huge loss. Unknown callers persuaded Tripathi to download a mobile app, promising profitable returns. Believing them, he deposited Rs 61,19,000 between September 1 and October 3. When all four phone numbers used by the fraudsters became unreachable, Tripathi grew suspicious. After medical treatment for distress, he reported the matter to the Cyber Police Station on Friday.
