Kathauta Lake desilting: UP Jal Nigam begins mop-up of roads
Lucknow, April 30 -- Following intervention by the Jalkal department, the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Urban) has finally taken action regarding the disorder caused during the desilting of Kathauta Lake. On Tuesday, Jal Nigam teams began clearing the silt dumped on nearby roads, providing some relief to local residents.
On Monday, the general manager of the Jalkal department issued a letter to Jal Nigam, expressing displeasure over the negligence observed during the desilting process. The letter highlighted that the silt and dust spread across the roads be removed immediately and regular water sprinkling be ensured to mitigate the inconvenience caused to the public.
Acting on the letter, Jal Nigam teams were seen actively working around Kathauta Lake from Tuesday morning. With the help of machines and labourers, the silt accumulated along the roadside was swiftly cleared. Additionally, water sprinkling was carried out to control dust. Jal Nigam officials have assured that the silt will be completely removed from the area within the next two days and the desilting work of the lake will be completed as per regulations and cleanliness standards. htc...
