VARANASI, Sept. 23 -- The ghats of Varanasi will be lit in a divine glow as over 10 lakh earthen lamps get lit during this Dev Deepawali scheduled for November 5. Joint director, tourism, Dinesh Kumar, stated that 10.10 lakh lamps will be lit on the Ganga Ghats on Dev Deepawali. Some of these will be designer lamps, and one lakh of these lamps will be made from cow dung. Additionally, the ghats will be cleaned, and the historic ghats along the banks of the Ganga will be illuminated with facade lights and electric lights. Kumar stated that a cultural event, "Ganga Mahotsav," will be held at Rajghat from November 1to 4, prior to Dev Deepawali. Local artists will be featured in this programme. Additionally, a laser show at Chet Singh Ghat will showcase religious stories related to Kashi. A pollution-free, green fireworks display will also be held on the sands across the Ganga, conveying the message of environmental protection.
