PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 5 -- In charge of Karchana police station, inspector Rajesh Singh, has been suspended by DCP Yamuna Nagar Vivek Chandra Yadav for failing to take prompt action in a November 29 case where an army jawan was attacked by five men in a Scorpio following an overtaking dispute in Prayagraj. Two days after the incident, the army jawan succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Army Hospital in Lucknow. Vivek Singh (28), a Dharwara resident who was home for his cousin's wedding, was attacked by men in a Scorpio around 2 am on November 29 after an altercation over overtaking near the Dharwara turn. He later died from his injuries. His family alleged that although they informed Rajesh Singh, the Karchana police station in-charge, no immediate action was taken. A departmental inquiry confirmed the family's allegations, finding that Inspector Rajesh Singh failed to take the complaint seriously or inform senior officials.
