Karampur outplay Lakhimpur by 17-0
LUCKNOW, Nov. 20 -- Favourites Karampur crushed Lakhimpur by 17-0 to make it to the semi-finals of the 17th Padma Shri Pt Jaman Lal Sharma Memorial Under-14 State Hockey Tournament, at the Chandra Bhanu Gupt Khel Maidan here on Wednesday.
In the other quarterfinals, hosts Lucknow defeated Jhansi by 8-0, Ghazipur beat Sitapur 3-1 and Bhadohi brushed aside Varanasi's Vivek Academy 4-1. Vivek yadav struck four goals for Karampur, whereas Jonsen Pal, Anshu Pal and Prince Yadav shared six goals between them.
The four-day Neeru Memorial Annual Sports Meet Spardha- 2025, organised by St Joseph Group of Institutions came to a colourful end, at the KD Singh 'Babu' Stadium here on Wednesday.
On the final day of the four-day event, races including 200m, 400m, 800m, and relay events were conducted. For the first time, a 50m race was introduced for Class one and two boys and girls. Additionally, a 100 m sprint for parents was organized for the first time.
In the girls cricket final, stellar all-round performance by Prisha Gupta secured the trophy for Sitapur Road Branch. Prisha scored 52 runs and took four wickets in the final match. Sitapur Road team set a target of 109 runs in 16 overs for Rajajipuram, who were bowled out for just 52. This marked the fifth consecutive year that the Sitapur Road Girls' Cricket Team emerged as champions.
Along with this achievement, Sitapur Road Branch bagged the Team Games Trophy with a total of 20 gold medals, and the track and field trophy with 27 gold medals. In Spardha 2025, Sitapur Road Branch created history by securing 47 gold medals and 355 points, delivering their best-ever performance and surpassing all previous records to claim the Champion of Champions Trophy for the fifth time in a row. Meanwhile, Mukul Raj, Naitik Singh, and Aman Yadav were honoured with Neeru memorial Khel Ratna Award....
