Kanwariya assaulted in Kashi: Six in custody
VARANASI, July 29 -- A kanwariya sustained injuries when he was beaten up following an argument with a shopkeeper at Rani Bazar in the Rajatalab area of Varanasi on Monday, police said. Six people were taken into custody following the incident.
Additional commissioner of police, law and order, Shivhari Meena said, "Based on complaint, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of BNS and six accused have been taken into custody. Adequate police force is deployed on the spot and currently there is peace and the law and order situation is normal."
Angry at the assault on the kanwariya, identified as Shubham Yadav, other kanwariyas started blocking Rajatalab-Jansa road.
At this, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Gomti Zone, Akash Patel and additional deputy commissioner of police Vaibhav Bangar, along with police force, reached the spot.
The police officials spoke to the kanwariyas, asking them to end the protest. When some locals joined the protest, police warned and dispersed them.
DCP Akash Patel said, "Today, on 28th July, kanwar pilgrims were carrying water in the town under Rajatalab police station. During this, an argument broke out between a kanwar pilgrim and a shopkeeper.
"As soon as the information was received, the police force reached the spot and controlled the situation. The kanwar pilgrim has filed a written complaint regarding the incident at the police station.
"A case has been registered under relevant sections of BNS."...
