KANPUR, Aug. 20 -- Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Sadar Auraiya Rakesh Kumar here was relieved of his charge and attached to the collectorate after a CCTV footage, reportedly from 2024, surfaced on social media on Tuesday, officials said.The video, recorded inside the SDM's chamber, allegedly shows a man placing an envelope in a drawer near the officer's chair. In the next frame, Kumar is seen taking the envelope and putting it in his pocket. The authenticity of the footage has not been independently verified. District magistrate Dr Indramani Tripathi appointed additional magistrate Ajay Anand to hold charge of the sadar subdivision, sources said. The inquiry has been handed over to ADM city Avinash Kumar. Officials said the clip is suspected to have been leaked by staff members of the tehsil. The probe will look into both the veracity of the video and how it was circulated.
