Kanpur Dehat: Unlit road, waterlogged pit turn fatal for 25-yr-old man
KANPUR, Feb. 13 -- A 25-year-old man died after his motorcycle veered off an unlit road and fell into a deep, waterlogged pit in Kanpur Dehat on Tuesday (February 10). He remained trapped in slush for several hours before being found the following morning, police said on Thursday.
The victim, Dheerendra Kumar, a resident of Bhawanipur village in Rasulabad, is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle due to poor visibility and plunged into the open pit on the Roora-Shivli road near Kadri village on Tuesday evening.
The Kanpur Dehat district magistrate Kapil Singh remained available for his reaction despite repeated efforts, while Shivli station house officer (SHO) Praveen Kumar Yadav said the stretch lacked street lighting and the victim remained stuck in the mud throughout the night.
"He left the Panki power station, where he worked, around 6 pm but did not reach home," the SHO said. Farmers heading to their fields on Wednesday morning spotted Kumar trapped in the slush and alerted villagers and police.
Village head Ankush Kumar and other residents pulled him out and attempted to revive him before calling for medical assistance. Kumar was taken to the Shivli community health centre (CHC), where doctors pronounced him dead....
